Demissew Ejara was born in Oromia region in Ethiopia. He studied accounting at Addis Ababa University and taught there between 1987-1989. He continued his graduates studies at University of Texas-Pan American (now renamed Rio Grande Valley University) earning MBA in 1991. Demissew completed PhD in Finance at the University of Connecticut in 1998. Since then he taught at UMASS Boston, William Patterson University of New Jersey, and at University of New Haven. He has taught a variety of finance courses and conducted research on different topics in finance and financial markets.
